Frequently Asked Questions — M10 Electric Outboard Motor

Which boats is the M10 compatible with?

The Momentum M10 is designed for tenders, sailboats (up to 10 tonnes), workboats, and inflatables. Its 3 available shaft sizes (short, long, and extra-long) make it adaptable to virtually any hull type and transom height.

How long does the battery last?

At cruising speed (3.2 knots), the M10 delivers up to 17.5 hours of autonomy with a 10 kWh battery — over 100 km of range. At low speed (2.2 knots), autonomy reaches an impressive 68.7 hours and 281 km range.

Is the M10 suitable for saltwater use?

Absolutely. The M10 uses a 100% seawater cooling circuit and features waterproof connectors throughout. It is built for continuous use in marine environments, whether coastal or offshore.

How difficult is the installation?

The M10 features a quick-release custom mounting interface — no special tools required. The multi-position trim system adjusts in seconds via a single lever, offering 5 trim positions for optimum performance in any sea state.

What certifications does the M10 carry?

The M10 electric outboard motor is CE certified and compliant with current European marine standards, making it suitable for both recreational and professional maritime use across Europe and beyond.

Why does the M10 electric outboard run on 72 V when most marine electric motors use a 48 V system?

48 V has emerged as the de facto standard in recreational electric boating, but it is not a regulatory ceiling. The 72 V architecture on the M10 electric outboard reflects a clear engineering choice: at equal power, a higher voltage means lower current, which reduces copper losses, cable heating and the conductor cross-section required. On a compact electric outboard like the M10, this translates directly into improved efficiency, higher power density and a lighter installation. The M10 remains within the Extra-Low Voltage range and benefits from a complete system architecture: CAN-Bus supervision between motor, lithium battery and controls, marine-grade waterproof connectors and a magnetic safety kill-switch.

Is the 72 V M10 electric outboard motor certified and compliant with European and international standards?

Yes. The M10 electric outboard is covered by an EU Declaration of Conformity under three European directives: the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (harmonised standard EN IEC 62368-1:2020+A11:2020), the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2014/30/EU, and the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU on hazardous substances. For the North American market, the M10 also holds an FCC Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity under CFR Title 47 Part 15 Subpart B. Declarations of conformity and associated test reports are available on request from your Momentum Electric distributor.
